Stat of the Week: Fighting Irish Foray

4 Nov

Do not bring soft football to a hard schedule.

Wake Forest‘s BB&T Field (capacity 31,500) in Winston-Salem, N.C., will be the smallest stadium in which Notre Dame has played a football game since Frank Leahy’s Fighting Irish traveled just north of Chicago to Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1945. Winners of the 1919 Rose Bowl, the Great Lakes Bluejackets played in a 23,000-seat stadium. The first ever meeting between the Fighting Irish and Demon Deacons takes place at 8pm Saturday night.
